BACKGROUND OF PBC MINISTRIES

Prophecy Being Fulfilled

The remarkable transformation of Kwio Akuru all miraculously started in the summer of 1976.The Holy Spirit spoke to Aunt Sarah about her 12 year old nephew, Jeffrey Vrielink, who had come from Germany to visit his American side of the family in California. She clearly heard God say that “Jeffrey will someday be a medical missionary to Africa.” There was a 46-year period of waiting before God was ready to act. During this period, the parents of the Kwio Akuru community started the Parent’s School in 2012. It operated for 8 years, until the Covid-19 lockdown closed it in 2020. Teachers were sent home without pay, and students had no educational opportunities for nearly 2 years. The parents prayed for a miracle. God heard them and, in His timing, answered their prayers. Forty-six years after the prophecy had been given to Aunt Sarah, it finally happened.

Uncle Jeff, who had graduated from medical school in 1992, took his first missionary trip to Uganda in July of 2022. He fell in love with our country and its people. It was that summer that the Hon. Dr. Betty Udongo Pacutho took a group of American missionaries, including Uncle Jeff, to visit her ancestral village of Kwio Akuru. They worshipped with and prayed for the people of the community and saw healings in Jesus’ name. Six weeks after their visit to Kwio Akuru, Uncle Jeff felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to call the Hon. Dr. Betty Udongo and asked about the needs of this community. Together, they decided to start a new school with new teachers, which Uncle Jeff named “Precious Beloved Children Christian School.”

In December of 2022, Uncle Jeff returned to Kwio Akuru as a team leader with a group of 7 medical students and Dr. Gerald Tumusiime, the Dean of Medicine from the Uganda Christian University School of Medicine in Kampala, where Uncle Jeff is a Visiting Professor of Psychiatry. In three days, the team treated over 500 people, and Dr. Gerald Tumusiime performed 3 surgical operations. It was here that Uncle Jeff forged a partnership with “Dr. George,” whom Uncle Jeff sponsors every four months to provide free medical care to the pupils of our school. With funding through True Life Bible Church they have purchased 4 acres of land for the campus of Gift of God School of Nursing and Midwifery, which they, Lord willing, plan to build in Nebbi in 2025. Initially, Uncle Jeff financed the Precious Beloved Children Christian School through his private medical practice, Veritas Psychiatry, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. After two years, generous donors caught Uncle Jeff’s vision and started supporting the school. Students no longer have to study under the trees and get wet during the rainy season.

In 2024, a church building, a solar powered borehole, the first two school buildings, a medical clinic, and a playground were built. The community had prayed for a breakthrough. God had clearly heard their prayers and provided. True Life Bible Church of Wyoming, Michigan commissioned Uncle Jeff to be their official missionary to Uganda in April of 2024. They embraced his vision and mission for Precious Beloved Children Christian School and Ministries and have been instrumental in helping him build and grow the ministries. Uncle Jeff directs and governs all aspects of PBC Christian School and Ministries. Under his leadership, the school is growing, and our community is thriving, bringing jobs and hope to youths through our work-discipleship program. Precious Beloved Children Ministries is dedicated to providing quality education, empowering communities, and spreading the love of Christ. Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, Uncle Jeff’s great love for our community, and the support of many generous donors, PBC Ministries continues to transform lives in Kwio Akuru. Among his many initiatives, Uncle Jeff established the Higher Education Scholarship Fund, to help qualifying students attain their career goals beyond secondary school.

Our vision is “Empowering youths, transforming communities, and advancing the Kingdom of God through quality education, spiritual growth, and discipleship programs to shape a brighter future for the next generation. Guided by Scripture, driven by prayer, and led by the Holy Spirit, we strive to:

Our Journey

The remarkable transformation of Kwio Akuru all miraculously started in the summer of 1976, to spread the message of love and hope through service. Over the years, we have grown from a small congregation to a vibrant community, reaching many people.

Educational Support
Worship services

Sunday services and any other worships was being conducted under a tree called "Nunga" before we had no any buildings in Kwio Akuru. Our Catechist Oboko Ray mentors the pupils and instructs them to be a good, better and religious generation who believe in Christ our Lord.

Praising God in Worship
School under the trees

Dedicated pupils attended class under the trees for 2-years before the first school building was constructed. The way it used to be, Pupils hiding from the rain before we had no buildings for them, some hiding under the trees, tables, and any shades around, to protect them getting wet by the rain..

Church Building Expansion
Old Church buliding as school

PBC Christian School pupils proudly wearing their school uniforms infront of the old school house. We had no desks for them, Light stream in, through large holes in the roof. Almost 20% of our Pupils come from other communities.

Community Outreach Activities
School construction

Beginning construction of the school buildings for PBC Christian School. Most of the youths within the communities were employed as the construction workers under a slogan "We Build Quality to Last."

Health Services
Clean and safe water

Drilling a 90 meter borehole took 2 attempts. A solar panel pump provides clean, tasty, refreshing, safe water to the community at a reasonable price per month.

Youth Empowerment
New office building
