Free Medical Care Initiative

July 15, 2024 By PBC Ministries Team

Precious Beloved Children Ministries is proud to announce our Free Medical Care initiative, led by Uncle Jeff, a visiting Professor of Psychiatry at Uganda.

In our commitment to holistic care for the children and community of Kwio Akuru Village, we recognize that physical and mental health are foundation to overall wellbeing and development. Our Free Medical Care program aims to address the critical healthcare needs of our community, particularly focusing on those who have limited access to quality medical services.

Meet Uncle Jeff: Leading Our Medical Initiative

We are honored to have Uncle Jeff, a distinguished Visiting Professor of Psychiatry at UCU, leading our medical care initiative. With his extensive experience in both general medicine and psychiatric care, Uncle Jeff brings invaluable expertise to our community.

Uncle Jeff's dedication to serving underprivileged communities stems from his belief that quality healthcare should be accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. His approach combines modern medical practices with cultural sensitivity, ensuring that care is provided in a manner that respects local traditions and beliefs.

"Healthcare is not just about treating physical ailments; it's about nurturing the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy and strong."

Uncle Jeff, Visiting Professor of Psychiatry

Our Medical Services

Through the Free Medical Care initiative, we provide a range of services to the children in our care and the broader community:

  • comprehensive Health Care: Doctor George provides thorough checkups and medical care to pupils every three months.
  • First Aid and Medicines: He leaves the school with essential medicines for common illnesses, ensuring timely treatment and care.
  • Medical Advisory Service: Doctor George offers expert advice to the school, helping them make informed decisions about health-related matters.

Benefits of the Medical Services

  1. Improved Health Outcomes: Regular checkups and access to medicines can lead to better health outcomes for pupils.
  2. Increased Access to Healthcare: The partnership between PBC Ministries and Doctor George helps bridge the gap in healthcare access for the community.
  3. Support for Education: By prioritizing pupils' health, the medical services can contribute to improved academic performance and attendance.

Potential Expansion and Enhancement

  1. Health Education: We shall consider adding health education sessions for pupils, teachers, and parents to promote healthy habits and disease prevention.
  2. Community Outreach: We shall expand the medical services to reach more community members, potentially through the construction of nursing schools in Nebbi and organising medical camp yearly.
  3. Partnerships and Collaborations: We shall explore opportunities for partnerships with other healthcare organizations or local government agencies to enhance the medical services.

Impact Stories

Community Health Initiatives: At PBC Ministries, we're dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of our community. Here are some highlights from our medical outreach programs:

  1. Medical Camp 2021: We organized a successful medical camp in 2021, where Dr. Tumusiime from UCU performed a life-changing surgery on one of our community members. Many children and youths received medication for malaria, typhoid, and malnutrition, and we're thrilled to report that they all recovered well.
  2. Quarterly Medical Support: Thanks to Uncle Jeff's generosity, Dr. George from Kampala visits our community every three months to provide free medical care to our pupils and children. This initiative has been instrumental in keeping our community healthy and thriving.
  3. Gratitude to Uncle Jeff, Supporters, and Donors: We're deeply grateful for Uncle Jeff's ongoing support and sponsorship of our medical initiatives, as well as the financial support from our donors. Your kindness has made a significant impact on the lives of our community members, and we're thankful for your commitment to their well-being.
  4. Health Initiatives Aim to:
    • Provide access to quality medical care for underserved communities
    • Promote health awareness and education
    • Support the overall well-being of our pupils and community members

We're proud to make a positive impact in our community and look forward to continuing our health initiatives with the support of generous donors from USA.

Future Healthcare Plans

At PBC Ministries, we're committed to enhancing the health and well-being of our community. Here are our future plans:

  1. Establishing a Permanent Clinic: We're working towards establishing a permanent and extensive care clinic facility at the school, providing comprehensive healthcare services to our students and the surrounding community.
  2. Empowering Local Health Workers: We'll train and employ local community health workers to provide basic care and health education in our school, empowering them to make a positive impact in their community.
  3. Mobile Clinic Initiative: Our mobile clinic will reach remote areas surrounding the community, providing essential healthcare services to those in need.
  4. Partnerships for Specialized Care: We're developing partnerships with medical institutions to access specialized care and professional development opportunities, ensuring our students and community receive the best possible care.
  5. Nursing School in Nebbi: We shall build and open a nursing school in Nebbi, providing a platform for individuals to pursue a career in nursing and enhancing the healthcare capacity in our region.

These initiatives shall provide quality healthcare and promote health education in our community. We're excited to work towards a healthier future for all!
