The Power of One

Jesus Christ, our Lord, Saviour, and King, left the splendors of Heaven to save sinful man on earth. When He started His ministry at age 30, He picked 12 young men as His disciples and invested in their lives.

After Judas betrayed the Lord and hung himself, he was replaced by Matthias. The 12 apostles became powerful tools in God's hand to share the Gospel of Salvation in Jesus Christ, as they traveled throughout the world spreading the good news of reconciliation. They were unlearned men, but fully committed to God's calling on their lives. They were unshakable and unstoppable in spreading the Word.

Their influence spread around the world and has even reached us through the ages, giving us purpose, value, and hope of eternal life. But it all started with Jesus Christ. Each one of us has a similar opportunity to be mightily used of God at this time and in this place in our sphere of influence.

Local Impact Stories

Years ago the Hon. Dr. Betty Udongo invested in a ministry in Nebbi that has become New Generation Healing Centre. God is using her to transform the lives of needy single mothers and their babies who needed love and direction after suffering trauma during the COVID-19 lockdown. They have become radiant beacons of light in their community. Hallelujah! Dr. Betty also invested in her nephew Brian by paying his school fees. Brian now not only supervises her farm, but was assigned to help PBC Ministries as our site coordinator.

Within a week Uncle Jeff saw Brian's amazing potential, and recently promoted him to General Manager of Precious Beloved Children Ministries and Christian School to carry out all of the initiatives to help our school become self-sustaining. The story of how Uncle Jeff became connected to and fell in love with our community is just as remarkable. It should never have happened, except it was preordained by God to demonstrate His incredible love for this community and its children.

How is it possible that Uncle Jeff, who was born in Switzerland of a Dutch father and an American mother, moved around Europe and ended up in America at age 14, where he became a medical doctor and eventually came to Uganda by God's providence? He is the most unlikely candidate to be used of God to reach the most remote and ignored people in Uganda.

The Power of Yielding to God's Call

Only through yieldedness to the Holy Spirit did this connection happen when God heard and responded to the prayers of the parents in this community. We are all like pens and have the potential to be used in a mighty way when we are in the Master's hand. Apart from the author, a pen has no value on its own. But in the hand of the Lord, a person can become a tool of great value.

But without the Holy Spirit inhabiting and guiding that person, he is powerless to accomplish what God has prepared for him to do. We have to listen to the Holy Spirit and become willing participants. Then that person becomes useful to accomplish God's will through him. This same Holy Spirit is searching for others who will respond to the call.

That one person who is fully yielded to the Lord becomes a beacon of light in the darkness. It's called the Power of One. Jesus, the apostles, Dr. Betty, Brian, and Uncle Jeff are just a few examples of how God wants to use us.
